Important Update Regarding COVID-19

As we continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, we will continue to collect donations as long as it is safe to do so.

As you can imagine, the need for blood products has skyrocketed with the overwhelming number of patients that veterinary practices are seeing on a daily basis across the country.

The need for donors is still at a constant high. We are currently working with each donation site to comply with their protocols for their facility as well as our own.

Here are some steps we are taking to ensure the safety of our donors and their families:

  • We are working within the CDC’s guidelines to keep our team and donation sites free of the virus.

  • We have added additional cleaning procedures.

  • We have instructed donor families to reschedule donations if they or someone in their household is sick.

  • We are currently on a curbside protocol at most of our donation sites. We are meeting our donor families at their vehicle, taking the donors inside to collect, then returning them to you. This is at the request of our donation sites, with a few exceptions where we have a more flexible space to practice social distancing and if the facility will allow it.

If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call at Blue Ridge Veterinary Blood Bank. Our mobile numbers are on the voicemail if you are unable to reach the office.
